House

The house is typical of many 1960’s built houses in the UK, thank god for polish builders!!!!

The house divides Alison and I. Given that it took me 2 years for the curtain pole to stay up in the bedroom (terrible plaster) and the complete lack of insulation I’m not a big fan of the design nor build.

We have done many changes since moving in, new windows, new kitchen and bathroom (you can see why from the pictures below), 2 new boilers, insulation and a wood burning stove. We are on oil and the first year we went through 2ooo liters of oil, now we are down to 850 liters a year. The cat loves the stove!

The old kitchen took 30mins to take out and new one took 1 day to install.

Bakelite loo and sink was meant to be fashionable once, not now though. The free standing german show had to go.

In 2019 we decided the bathroom needed another makeover, bigger shower and removing the bath for a bigger sink area, just behind the door

The Living room has had a wood burner installed.

The bedrooms were re done

The conservatory was re done

Then there is the wine store or medication room, the good stuff is in the 6 foot wine fridge.

Just before Covid 19 lock down we had the dining room to conservatory wall knocked down and heavy duty Bi fold doors installed, during the summer these are moved back, in the winter used to conserve heat.

2023 saw solar panels and home battery added to the house.
