Development letters
Please find below 9 sample letters that can be used to send to the Marks Tey councilors to vote against any development off North Lane.
There are 3 letters that support the parish councils proposal to put development north of the A120 with a relief road just north of the existing A120 so that people in the present Estate and those living on the A120 would get traffic relief, as the existing trunk road traffic would be moved on to this new one, off that new trunk road you would access the new housing area. This relief road could start at the railway bridge, swing north of the estate past Popular Nursey and the Great Tey road, to join up with the existing bit of A120, west of Marks Tey.
There are also 3 letters that support what I believe is Colchester’s preferred area, that is off the A12 behind the shops, going towards the shell petrol station on the A12. This would allow traffic from the new development to go directly onto the A12 heading south. Anyone going north would have to go via the shops and the roundabouts towards the station and those coming back north from the A12 to the new development would have to go again via the shops. This could potentially allow for additional parking at the shops and also for the train station and would take traffic away from the existing housings in Marks Tey, for the most part.
The last three letters are in support of both plans for the above reasons. It is important that we understand that Marks Tey will be given additional housing but we should also recognise the existing residents must benefit from this additional housing. This why the parish council is looking more favourably that any development north of the estate, with the relief road north of the estate, similar to what you find at Stanway going towards the zoo.
